In 2013, Martin Hummel began his association with Edition Records as a result of a negotiation he was spearheading on behalf of an artist who was seeking an extension to his existing recording contract.
Hummel had never met Edition's founder, Dave Stapleton, prior to the negotiation.
The negotiation was a success and, as a result, in 2014 Stapleton ultimately invited Hummel to become the non-Executive Chairman and shareholder of Edition Records.
Hummel became engaged in the business and the strategic issues the Label faced. Within a short period, Edition evolved from a cottage business to a registered company, with a newly defined strategy and a long term plan for its future success.
Edition Records now has the reputation as an innovative record label.
After four years, in 2018 Martin resigned as non-Executive Chairman and has subsequently sold back his shares in Edition.
